<p>If you trying to lose weight beware of certain &#8220;fat-free&#8221; or &#8220;low-fat&#8221; products. Even though they are low in fat it doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean that they are low in calories. And, if they contain flour, they can cause you to gain weight.</p>
<p>White flour comes from grain which has been stripped of all its natural fiber and ingredients; it has little nutritional value and will cause you to gain weight.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s some really good news. If you do nothing more than stop eating all products made with flour you will lose weight.</p>
<p>White flour is a bad carbohydrate.</p>
<p>Now, here&#8217;s why. White processed flour is similar to white sugar. It comes from grain which has been chemically treated during the growing process, stripped of all its natural fiber and nutrients, and chemically bleached to make it a pretty white. Not to mention pretty unhealthy.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a food that the body does not know how to digest. It has little nutritional value, spikes your insulin and can cause constipation. Yet the American Dietetic Association recommends we eat 8-11 servings of them in our daily diets. And that&#8217;s not good advice.</p>
<p>The public has been programmed to believe that white flour products are healthy and should be part of your daily diet.</p>
<p>This is because they are low in fat, cholesterol and calories. People eat things like white bread, cereals, pasta, bagels, crackers and pretzels and believe they are eating healthy because some these foods are labeled &#8220;low-fat&#8221; or &#8220;fat-free&#8221;.</p>
<p>But what food manufacturers have failed to mention in their clever advertising is that these products have zero nutritional value and can lead to poor health. And most of them are chock full of bad carbohydrate calories which turn into fat.</p>
<p>This may surprise you; wheat bread is not any healthier for you than white bread.</p>
<p>They both have a high glycemic index rating of around 100 which is unhealthy. Even though wheat bread has been minimally processed and contains more fiber it is still full of the wrong carbohydrates that will turn to fat and cause you to gain weight.</p>
<p>If you are trying to lose weight stay away from whole wheat bread, whole grain bread, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat pancake mix, shredded wheat, wheat crackers, raisin bran, and the thousands of other wheat-containing products that promise health.</p>
<p>As many as 75 percent of overweight and obese people in the U.S. may be addicted &#8211; through poor eating habits &#8211; to either bad carbohydrates or the protein called gluten, which is a problematic protein present found in all wheat, whole wheat, wheat bran, rye, and barley products. Soy flour and corn bran do not contain gluten.</p>
<p>Stick to healthy foods if you want to lose weight</p>
<p>Stay away from flour products if you want to lose weight. Learn to substitute other healthy foods for flour products and you will see faster results for your weight loss program.</p>
<p>You may have difficulty eliminating all flour products from your diet overnight. If this is the case then start by staying away from snack foods made with flour.</p>
<p>Satisfy your cravings for unhealthy snacks and get your daily fiber by eating good and healthy carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>Eliminating flour products from your diet is one the quickest ways to lose weight. However, it&#8217;s not easy to stop eating breads and snack foods. You can start by substituting other healthier snacks and be on your way to losing excess weight and improving your overall health.</p>

<p>My wife and I are due to hit 40 this year, and although we have always been conscious of our weight, it&#8217;s just not as easy to keep it off as it used to, so we decided to get serious about a fat loss workout system.<span id="more-1130"></span></p>
<p>Now we are different, my wife enjoys running and likes the social aspect of yoga and other fat loss workout systems where there is a group involved.</p>
<p>Me, well I prefer to focus on diet and also enjoy running and exercise, but I&#8217;m not a big fan of groups or classes &#8211; so it was obvious right from the beginning, we&#8217;re going to follow different systems.</p>
<p>My weight loss workout consisted of the following:</p>
<p>1. Replace my normal high calorie lunch with fat burning foods including vegetables with less carbohydrates.</p>
<p>2. Jog at least 30-minutes, 3-times each week in addition to 3 15-minute weight workout sessions at a local health club.</p>
<p>3. Cut down on late night snacks &#8211; I have a habit of eating before bedtime.</p>
<p>4. Try the slow burn method of working out to burn fat even when I&#8217;m not working out.</p>
<p>My wife&#8217;s fat loss workout plan looked like this:</p>
<p>1. Run 6km 4-times each week</p>
<p>2. Drink at least 4 more glasses of water each day</p>
<p>3. Cut down on the late night snacking</p>
<p>4. Attend a monthly yoga and meditation class &#8211; recently introduced by a neighbor, my wife is now a yoga and meditation maniac.</p>
<p>SO &#8211; WHAT WERE OUR RESULTS?</p>
<p>Drumroll please, after just 2-months of following the regime listed above, I had lost 15lbs and my wife had lost close to the same (though she had a much lower body fat percentage to begin with).</p>
<p>Not only did this fat loss workout plan burn more fat, it finally did away with my middle &#8220;spare tire&#8221; and I gained energy I hadn&#8217;t counted on getting back.</p>

Dietary supplements are known to act as appetite suppressants, having effects on the metabolism and preventing fatty deposits from forming. The diet pill can have different results from one individual to another. It is especially effective when associated with the right diet and regular exercise. Under no circumstances should it be taken in higher doses than prescribed and it is not recommended for those who suffer from high blood pressure or diabetes.</p>

<p>The truth is, in fact, there are no miracle answers. If there were, you would not be seeing all the ads for various drink mixes, berry juices, jungle magic cures, and so on. So far, the only magic science has found already exists within the human body. No pill or weight loss secret will every instantly melt fat away. Fat cannot be melted, but it can be burned and regulated with basic diet and exercise.</p>
<p>Scientific studies show how different foods affect the body, from blood pressure to fat burning. Combining proper diet with simple exercise routines is the duo that can affect body tone, shape, and size. Certain foods can be combined to have new properties, like beans plus cheese make a complete protein. Maintaining a proper body chemistry pH factor can aid in weight loss.</p>
<p>Do a little research of your own on basic health and nutrition. Even the government has updated their food triangle system over time. Remember the impact that advertising has on what you purchase, and that includes food. Things happened in the second half of the last century in the food industry. While better methods of preservation were invented for food storage, and chemicals additives became the answer for many, time has shown that certain processes were really not all that healthy. Like the effects of extra sodium (salt) added for canning foods, and heavy sugar syrups, high fructose corn sweeteners, and even added vitamins, now being seen in overweight adults and children today all around the world.</p>

<p>For exercise, moderation and interval training (alternate short high and low intensity exercises) are best for fat control. Walking is the perfect exercise anyone can do. There is no special equipment needed, and you can incorporate plain household items in your routine. You don’t have to buy dumbbells when you have 16 ounce cans in the cupboard that work just as well. Develop a home workout that is simple, easy to do and inexpensive.</p>
<p>Stick to a good basic diet and exercise around the house and yard, and you can be successful because it becomes a habit instead of a chore, and much easier to maintain and stay motivated to do. Be sure to stay off the scales, just weigh in about once a week and keep a chart. If you need to do a food diary, that is an excellent way to stay on track, measure calories, and keep motivated.</p>

<p> 1. Try to have breakfast within one hour of waking. It&#8217;s always best to have breakfast within an hour of waking so that your body can charge itself with the energy it needs for the day. The idea is not to wait for yourself to get really hungry. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but that does not mean that it should be the most filling meal of the day.</p>
<p> 2. Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by the body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins.</p>
<p> If you do have a craving for fruit juice then go for fresh fruit juice instead of those that contain artificial flavors and colors. Or even better, try making your own fruit juice taking care not to sweeten it with too many calories.</p>
<p> 3. Fix times to have meals and stick to it. Try to have food at fixed times of the day. You can stretch these times by half an hour, but anything more than that is going to affect your eating pattern, the result will either be a loss of appetite or that famished feeling which will make you stuff yourself with more than what is required the next time you eat.</p>
<p> 4. Tuck in your tummy whenever you walk. Get that proper gait. And the best way for that is to tuck in your tummy and inflate your chest. Do not let your tummy hang above your belt line like some unruly layer of flesh. Bring it under the belt.</p>
<p> Each time you tuck in your tummy, you will feel the pressure on the muscles of your stomach. This tightening and loosening of these muscles is even better than stomach crunches.</p>
<p> 5. This excercise routine is our favorite &#8211; punching your pillow. It may sound like one of those weird ideas but believe me it works. Not too many of us have punching bags at home and if you have really fluffy pillow giving it a good punching routine is just as good as anything else.</p>
<p> This is also a nice way of letting off steam, so go for it. After all, something is better than nothing. But I would suggest that you do not hit it too violently or else the stuffing might come out. Do not bother too much about the force with which you hit the pillow. It is number of hits that are important. Try to get at least fifty punches in one bout.</p>
<p> I would like to give you a little tip over here. If there is somebody that you particularly dislike like your boss or your neighbor, or may be your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend, try fixing a picture of the person&#8217;s head on the top of your pillow and then try punching it. I promise you, it will give you a lot of satisfaction!</p>

There also are empty foods such as the sugar replacements but many of them carry scary potential with them because of:</p>

<li> what they were made from,</li>
<li>what they turn into when consumed, or</li>
<li>the many suspect chemicals that they contain.</li>
</ul>
<p>[fatburnfloat]Caffeine does increase metabolism but studies say that it is not really significant enough to be classified as a real fat burner. Other studies indicate that caffeine, while helping in the short term may actually cause weight gain in the long term.</p>
<p>Hot peppers contain capsaicinoids which may elevate metabolism but, again, I do not believe that it is sufficient to be a significant fat burner. Peppers more importantly have a great many benefits to our in-going health that cause them to fit in as a super food not a significant fat burner.</p>
<p>Some of the foods that fit the fat-burner category because of the very low calorie content are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Citrus fruits are high in vitamin C to release fat from storage so that it can be burned</li>
<li>Fruits such as apples, strawberries, peaches and some vegetables such as carrots and yams (sweet potatoes) contain pectin which is a carbohydrate that contains little or no calories. Pectin&#8217;s role is mainly as a natural fiber which makes you feel full so you won&#8217;t eat as much, It is slow to be released by the stomach so you feel full longer, It slows down the release of sugars into the blood and as well, works as a digestive system sweeper keeping our intestines cleaner and healthier.</li>
<li>Nuts and seeds help to quickly make you feel full plus they have a beneficial effect of your skin, making smother and more flexible.</li>
</ul>
<p>Consuming foods such as these combined with both aerobic and resistance exercises will help you in your weight loss plan. It is also important to know that if you are following a very restrictive diet your body will be responding by lowering its metabolic rate. This is a natural preservation response by the body. Unfortunately the result is lowered fat burning. In this state the body is now also consuming muscle as well as fat and you are now losing the best fat burner you have; that being lean muscle tissue.</p>

<li>People who consume diet foods may assume that because of the title DIET they can consume more with out weight gain.</li>
<li>The artificial sweeteners in these foods may be confusing our body&#8217;s sense of satiety. These sweeteners may interfere with the body&#8217;s natural processes of limiting consumption of sweet substances.</li>
</ul>
<p>What ever the reasons studies done by Sharon P. Fowler (University of Texas) showed that for every can of diet soda consumed obesity went up by 41% as compared with 36% for regular soda.<br />
Studies done by Susan E. Swithers and Terry L. Davidson (Purdue University) showed that when rats were fed artificial sweeteners they increased their caloric intake and increased body weight and fat.<br />
MY OPINION: If you want to achieve weight loss should sodas, diet or regular, be a regularly consumed item? Diet foods, if they contain artificial sweeteners should also be questioned by us.</p>
<ul>
<li>With a regular soda you are consuming 9 to 10 teaspoons of sugar. Imagine sitting down a small bowl of sugar and eating it. People would think we were crazy! Yet we do it regularly in liquid form.</li>
<li>Beside the direct result from consumption of diet foods (weight gain) there is also the fact that we are consuming some very questionable chemicals that many of them are made of or from.</li>
</ul>
<p>This is a very simplified version of some very long scientific dissertations but should still give one sufficient reason to seriously consider the use of diet foods as a source of weight loss.</p>
<p>Know what is going into your body and answer the question of whether; are short cuts the way to go with weight loss or is the natural process of eating healthy foods in moderation combined with an active lifestyle the safer way to lose weight. Eat healthy foods, include as many of the super foods in your diet as possible, exercise regularly to be a healthy and energetic being. Good Luck and good health!</p>
