Fat Loss For Idiots – 6 Tips For Healthy Eating

Sunday, 25. July 2010 10:10

You are more than likely sick of hearing about what will not work. You have heard all the reports on how fad diets will never help you lose weight. The problem then is what can you do to lose weight? Here are a few tips that will make it easier for you to lose weight and then keep off the fat.

Television

Unless you are following an aerobics instructor on the set, it is time to turn it off! Americans spend vast amounts of time sitting in front of their television sets. Research suggests that this act actually burns fewer calories than sleeping if you can imagine that! Turn off the TV and go for a short walk after dinner you will feel much better about the use of your time and burn some extra calories in the process.

Sleep

Sleeping is a key ingredient in weight loss. People who do not get a proper amount of rest are at a much higher risk for obesity. Several things contribute to this fact. Exhaustion makes you think you are hungry more often, plus you can become irritable and depressed which further aggravates the situation. The recommended amount of sleep you should get is at least eight hours.

Set a nightly routine to help you get in the swing of things. A scheduled time to go to bed results in your body naturally becoming sleepy around the same time each night.

Never Go Shopping Hungry

Have you ever gone to the grocery store when you were starving? Chances are you went home with everything you can imagine and a few things you can’t. You probably snacked on the way home as well. This is why you should never go shopping hungry, the tendency is to buy everything that looks good, and it all looks good when you are hungry. Instead make a shopping list and then fill it right after you have had a solid meal.

Make a Menu

When you eat on the spur of the moment, you are not truly focused on weight loss so much as fixing your hunger. Set aside time to plan your menu including snacks, this way you are prepared and have already considered the health impact of your food.

Take it Slow

It is not healthy or advisable to lose massive amounts of weight very quickly. If you drop more than a few pounds per week, you are putting your health at risk. A healthy goal is two to three pounds of weight loss per week. This is not only healthy it is sustainable for the long haul.

Forgive Yourself

For someone who has tried many fat loss diets and failed it can be hard to look at yourself in the mirror. The first thing you must do is forgive yourself for what you see as failures and realize that most of what you were being sold was doomed to fail in from the start. Liking yourself is the key to success in any venture be it weight loss or life in general.

8 Tips for Healthy Weight Loss

Saturday, 24. July 2010 14:40

There are many reasons why someone would want to lose weight. As a Personal Trainer I have probably heard all of them at one time or another. I have heard everything from “I just want to look better” to “My doctor tells me if I don’t lose weight I will die”.

For the many people that are overweight or obese losing weight can be a very positive step toward improving their overall health. The number of diet programs, diet books and diet pills on the market tells us that there is no lack of people wanting to lose weight.

The first thing you need to do to lose weight is to STOP DIETING. Dieting for the most part doesn’t work. Most people that lose weight on a diet plan or program tend to gain it back even quicker than they lost it. Not only do these people gain back all they lost but usually they gain back even more than they lost.

1. DO NOT DIET. That is do not restrict your calorie intake to an unhealthy level or deprive yourself of certain foods or eat only certain foods. Eat a variety of foods, but try to make healthy choices. Think about what you are eating and learn what works for you. If you absolutely **** grapefruit you surely don’t want to go on a grapefruit diet. You may lose weight at first but you won’t keep your commitment when you see that nice juicy slice of Key Lime Pie.

2. Do a full body cleanse using natural herbal cleanse which you can get at most health food stores. If at all possible you should do a parasite cleanse, a Candida cleanse and a colon cleanse also. This gets the garbage out of your system that has built up over many years; it then allows the digestive system to do a better job. It is estimated that most people carry between 10-15 lbs of dried fecal material in their intestines that can lead to more health problems. Cleaning this out will help the body better use the food you put into it as well as help you lose weight.

3. Set realistic goals; don’t try to lose 30 lbs in 10 days. That would be a ridiculous goal and even if you were to accomplish it you would invariably have to use very unhealthy methods, and may very well cause more harm than good. Losing 3lbs per week is reasonable and healthy. However do not get hung up too much on scale weight. I often tell my clients to throw the scales away. Scale weight can be one indicator but means very little alone. The problem with many weight reduction plans is that they rely too heavily on scale weight without considering body composition. If you plan to only use one indicator to go by the scale is the most convenient and also the least valuable. Body composition is a much better indicator,

4. Eat a diet that is as close to nature as possible. Stay away from fried foods if at all possible. Limit the white flour and sugar and anything processed. If it comes in a can, a box or is in anyway prepared, like lunch meat limit your intake of these items. The preservatives in these items are for the most part poisonous to the human body. It is best that you set up a nutrition plan that you can live with the rest of your life.

5. Try to increase your consumption of high fiber foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Fibrous foods like lettuce, broccoli, celery etc will help your bowels move regularly, which is important to maintaining good health. Eat at least one large salad each day. If you want to really get a boost in your weight loss add some apple cider vinegar to your salad as dressing.

6. Drink plenty of good clean water. In most parts of the US you will want to stay away from tap water. Many of the cities in the US still use fluoridated water. Fluoride is actually a poison to the human body and has been linked with the increase in Alzheimer’s and other chronic diseases. You would be better off not to brush your teeth with fluoridated toothpaste either. You may want to get bottled water, oxygenated bottled water if possible.

7. Increase the amount of exercise you do. In countries other than the US people average walking 8-10 miles daily. Most people in the US walk less than 2 miles a day. Adding just a few steps here and there can add a great deal o the amount you walk. Park farther out in the parking lot, walk to the store. If the store is close to your home, walk or ride your bike to the store.

8. Add some muscle. You can and should add muscle by doing some sort of resistance exercises. This can be anything from some simple pushups and sit ups to full blown weight lifting exercises. Muscle is a dynamic tissue and will actually help you burn fat.

There you have 8 tips to help you get the weight off quickly and improve you health at the same time. You can find out a lot more about health and fitness by dropping by my website and signing up for the FREE weekly fitness newsletter.

Healthy Weight Loss Tips – 5 Essential Tips

Sunday, 18. July 2010 16:56

Many people experience the pain of losing weight. With Hollywood’s perception of beauty, there are many added pressures to be thin, however, it can be difficult to lose weight the right way and many diet only to end up gaining the weight right back. So many people turn to unhealthy weight loss diets and end up doing severe damage to their body. There are many tips for healthy weight loss that can get you to your goal weight while still being healthy.

Tip #1 – Do not eliminate all foods you love to eat from your diet. Many people believe that if they do not eat any indulging foods, they will lose weight. The truth is, you can still eat those types of foods, but in proper quantities and frequency. Another mistake people make is to eliminate some meals or food completely. This can be very dangerous because you are not getting proper nutrients. Rather than skipping meals or eating three big meals a day, it is a good idea to eat four or five smaller meals.

Tip #2 – Eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day can be very helpful for healthy weight loss. Fruits and vegetables are filled with vitamins and antioxidants. Many people use the fruits and veggies diet because they are low in calories, but help fill you up quickly.

Tip #3 – The most natural foods are best. We are so accustomed to drinking coffee, tea and sodas, but all the sugar in those drinks adds up. Water is essential for healthy weight loss and it is recommended to drink eight glasses a day. Not only will water help keep you hydrated; it will help keep you full throughout the day.

Tip #4 – Try to avoid processed and fast foods. Fresh foods generally are lower in sodium and fat content. It is also important to pay attention to the labels on foods; just because the label claims it is low in fat does not mean it is low in calories. Just by paying attention to the label on foods and understanding how they can affect your weight can make a huge difference for healthy weight loss.

Tip #5 – Physical activity is probably the best tip for healthy weight loss. Exercising at an elevated heart rate for 30-60 minutes a day is recommended to stay healthy. Exercises that include weight lifting can also help burn off calories. However, it is important that you know your body’s limit and you do not push yourself too much.

It is important to stay at a healthy weight, but it is equally important to do it in the right way. Too many people fall to “fad diets” and can end up doing permanent damage to their body because they are not taking in proper amounts of vitamins and nutrients. Paying attention to these tips for healthy weight loss can make all the difference and by safely losing weight, the effects will be greater and longer lasting.
