Hypnosis: Using Weight loss Theories to Lose weight



 

            If you have ever wondered how you can lose weight when all of the diets you have tried have failed, then you have come to the right place. Albert Ellis,  Michael Abrams and

Lidia Dengelegi have done research in weight loss in their ground-breaking book The Art And Science of Rational Eating. Genetics play an important role in governing the way our bodies metabolize food. During times of famine, people who held onto weight survived better than those who lost weight easily. Their genes were past down to their progeny. To make matters worse, when you lose a certain amount of weight, you reach a plateau or a set point. At this point, you need to further reduce calories or increase exercise to achieve more weight loss.

 

            The weight watchers program plans these set points into their program. As you get closer to your weight loss goal, you get fewer points. This helps you to lose weight throughout the process, because you are able to get past the plateau with a decrease in calories. The Ornish diet with its emphasis on lowering the fat also has good results Fat is nine calories per gram, while carbohydrates and proteins are four calories per gram.

 

Choosing a diet is a personal matter. You should discuss this with your doctor who might refer you to a dietician. When I work with my clients, I help them to use their subconscious mind to assist them in their struggle to lose weight. Since using will power takes a lot of energy and is often met with discouragement, people often see a hypnotherapist to jump start their progress and lose weight. Anything that you can visualize, you can believe. Visualizing your new body and knowing that your subconscious mind controls your bodily functions, you can speed up your metabolism and achieve your goal. Research in hypnosis shows that you have an easier time losing weight with hypnosis, since  hypnosis helps you to imagine your weight loss success. It also helps you to know that you can be successful, thereby raising self esteem. When your self esteem is increased, you have belief in yourself which promotes success… Hypnosis helps you to feel your success before you actually experience it. The mind feels that the success is already achieved. Because the subconscious mind controls bodily functions, metabolism can be speeded up and you can easily lose weight.
