This is for the ladies who ****** fed their babies. Once you started ****** feeding did you lose the weight you put on during pregnancy quickly, If so how much did you lose and in what time frame? Did you just lose what you put on the last nine months, or more? I’d like to get down to 130 after my baby is here, I weighed 145 when I got pregnant, am now 23 weeks at 154. Do you think I can lose this much just by ****** feeding? I know cutting back will be hard because I have to ensure that I’m getting enough nutrition to make ****** milk, right? Thanks for your help.
obviously I know the right reason for ****** feeding, and that’s not what I asked, so stick to the question thank you.
Thanks to all of you who have given a “positive” response…much appreciated

your ****** feeding for the wrong reason.
I think you can do it. Add half hour of exercise when the baby naps. I actually lost 25 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight in four months after the birth of my son. I still ate the same but I exercised and breastfeed.

My son is 6mo and I weigh about 3lbs less than I did when I got pregnant. I try to eat well, since I am still eating for two but not really any exercise except taking care of him. I gained 40ish lbs during my pregnancy. I’m 5′ 8″ and about 120.

I didn’t lose any of my weight (well besides what I lost at birthing) until I quit ****** feeding. I heard you were to lose it faster ****** feeding but it was not the case for me. My advice…eat very nutritious (obviously) and stay active. I still have 2 pant sizes to lose and my son is 7 months old. I gained quite a bit but I was tiny when I got pregnant. Good luck!
i ****** fed my twins and and i just went back to my normal size after they were old enough to drink in baby cups. your going to have to work hard to to shed those 15 pounds. dont count on your baby to do it.
They say you burn calories faster when ****** feeding, and it makes your uterus contract, so it gets back to shape quickly. I weighed 160 when I had my daughter, lost 15-18 lbs at birth (she was almost 8 lbs)…. so that was leaving the hospital at 142-145 lbs, and at two weeks I was at about 130. And that was solid ****** feeding, and probably lack of sleep. Unfortunately, we had a lot of problems after about three weeks…sorry I couldn’t be of much help! But it does help out!

I’ve ****** fed all of my seven children. I never started losing the weight until after I quit ****** feeding. That might be my body’s response to being kinda skinny. It usually took about a year after stopping that I would be back to normal. I always heard that ****** feeding helps you lose weight, but it never worked that way for me!
I was 120 pounds, 5 foot 7 tall- and I gained 65 pounds during pregnancy…(SHEESH!) And now, after 6 months of breastfeeding I am down to 128 pounds- and I am active, although I can honestly say, that I do not regularly exercise…just a walk with the dogs and baby around the neighborhood- but nothing crazy…It wasn’t my reason for breastfeeding either, but it is a PLUS!! Why not take pleasure in the fact that it is good for you AND the baby? The other poster shouldn’t be so rude and judgemental. It is factual that it can help a mom lose weight and protects against ****** cancer…There is nothing wrong with there being MANY positive reasons to breastfeed! GO YOU!!!
Oh, and BTW, I do eat healthy, but I also enjoy desserts in moderation too!
hi , i’ve been breastfeeding for 6 months now i weighted 175 when igot pg when i deliverd weighted 214 i am now down to 165 and still losing all i do is nurse and eat heathly. also you cant diet while nursing or pg

With my 1st, I ate really good( I managed a Golden Corral) lots of healthy food there and lost my weight with 6 weeks or so. I have a 8 month old now and breastfeeding didn’t seem to affect my weight with this one.( Not the reason I breastfeed either though, but is a nice perk if you lose if faster) I haven’t hardly lost any with this one. So I guess it just depends. Most important thing is to drink lots of water and milk and eat good healthy foods. If you lose it you do, if you don’t you don’t but know that your doing a wonderful thing for your baby and getting a GREAT bonding experience.
With my 1st son I weight 120 when I got pregnant. When I had him, I weighed 155. The day after leaving the hospital I weighed 135. At my 6 week appointment, I weighed in at 125. I was also very active after having my son. I was out and about 2 days after having him – I couldn’t stand sitting at home!
I would eat healthy. You don’t need to eat “extra” because you are breastfeeding. Just make sure what you are eating is healthy. Eat lots of protein, fruits, and veggies. Go walking every day. Once you heal some more – swimming is also a good way to lose the baby weight. Also, make sure you walk and swim before having the baby. That will help you stay in shape and may help with an easier delivery.
Good luck!

The person above is right, your breastfeeding for the wrong reason. When I breastfed, I wasn’t thinking about loosing weight, I was thinking about my children getting what they trully need. I could’ve cared less if I didn’t loose weight, as long as my girls were getting the nutrients they needed. Another thing, you shouldn’t be cutting back on anything. What I thought about ****** feeding is, I couldn’t wait to get home to bond with my girls. It’s was also a way for me to relax and forget all about the problems from the outside world. But it shows that you care more about loosing weight than giving your child what it needs. And that’s not what breastfeeding is about.

I breastfeed for about 2 months and lost 20lbs. Breastfeeding alone you will not loose that much, you have to eat healthy and exercise when you get the “ok” to do so then you’ll be on your way to loosing that much weight. Just give it some time (about 6 months) and you’ll be back in your bikini.

Daily ****** feeding burns around 500calories.So yes it will help you to loose lots of weight but not all of it.Specially the last 4-5kg are the most difficult ones.
But you should give yourself the same time as the time 9months pregnancy to drop the weight. The rest is up to you!

I have a 3 1/2 month old and I am only 5 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. I gained 35 pounds. I like breastfeeding but not because it helps me to loose weight if I wasn’t breastfeeding I would be eating way less so I feel I would loose the weight just as quick. But it is a great time to bond with your baby, cheaper and convient. Although I know not everyone can breastfeed so I think what it best for you. I have 2 that I breastfed both so I don’t know the other side of loosing weight without breastfeeding. One quick fact though they say that breasfeeding burns 300-500 calories a day. But the down side for me is it makes me sooooo hungry!!! Good Luck with your soon to be little one!!!!

Do not buy into the if you ****** feed you’ll lose your weight faster because it’s not always true.
You need to understand the when you ****** feed you need to eat healthy for yourself and your baby. Your body will store food to save up for your milk production.
I lost MOST of my weight but not all my weight. I lost about 25lbs in my first 6 weeks and then I plateaued.
There are some woman that ****** feed and the weight just drops off but I think that has more to do with metabolism rather than ****** feeding.
Nursing your child is all around more healthier for yourself as well as your baby so even if you don’t lose the weight as fast as you want you’ll still be doing your baby and your health a good service!

Absolutely breastfeed! My pregnancy weight came off quickly and it was so easy! I didn’t even have to think about it! I have had 4 children and nursed every one of them for no less than 8 mos. Breastfeed exclusively for 6 mos – babies need nothing else. Concentrate on your diet (it should be similar to what you ate when pregnant) – include lots of good fresh dark greens, fruits, whole grains, adequate protein and dairy. Do not eat fast food or processed foods – they are usually full of sugar, empty calories and bad fats. Snacks too should include vitamin and energy boosting foods, yogurt and fruit, really nice snack bars (Kashi is a great brand – lots of nuts and honey and wholegrains), dried fruits, Fresh veggies, eggs, etc… try adding olive oil to your diet too – don’t cook it. Drizzle some over pasta, dip bread in it, use it on salads. It’s one of the healthiest things you can eat. Fish with Omega 3 fatty acids, like salmon, is a good thing to include regularly in your diet too. Grilled salmon on a caesar salad is so delicious! Omega 3′s are good for brain development!
I would reccomend not focusing on the weight issue – focus only on baby being healthy, you being healthy! The weight will come off quickly, if you’re only putting good food into your body. Keep well-hydrated too. Do not try to diet or use nutrasweet/equal in your intake – it’s not healthy for the baby or for you. I can’t tell you how many moms I’ve seen drinking diet pop – yuck! It’s artificial and it’s really not doing anything for good you or the baby – if you’re thirsty, drink water! Drink juices with seltzer for something lighter. I’m not a fan of artifical sweeteners, unless someone is diabetic – but even then, not necessary. There is some really scary evidence out about nutrasweet and equal, so just don’t use it if you can help it.
You will lose weight immediately after baby is born, of course – because you lose 6-9 lbs with the baby out, placenta and extra water account for a few more lbs. It was pretty much the same with each of my kids – within a week or so, I was fortunate enough to be back into my pre-pregnancy clothes! The weight will continue to come off quickly – within a couple of months for sure, for most women without weight issues before they were pregnant. It’s more important that you are healthy, that you’re eating well and excercising, the baby is healthy, etc… Don’t “cut back” after the baby is born because when nursing, your baby is still living on everything you’re putting into yourself.
I really believe we have what we focus on the most. If you think “I am my perfect weight! I am healthy, I eat well!” You will be. Most people who are ideal weight and say, “I can eat whatever I want – I never have to worry about my weight” (have you known people like this?) Really, they don’t think about their weight – ever. People who are overweight or have eating addictions, etc… think about being fat, being overweight, having to go on a diet, etc… most of the time – we’ve all heard it! All of my friends who are 20-30 lbs over what they should be do eat fast food, do eat processed food, they snack on cookies and candy, they drink a ton of soda – the only raw vegetable they eat is iceberg lettuce (zero nutritional value) and a few of them now are pre-diabetic! So – don’t think anything except, “I am my perfect weight” – eat well and be happy. I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to live this way.
I weighed 110 before I had my 1st child. I weigh 115 now and I have more muscle than before – I’m 36. I can wear my daughter’s clothes and she’s 16! I never think about my weight. I’m a vegetarian (I do eat fish and dairy) and I’ve never felt better in my life.
Best Wishes!

It doesn’t really matter WHY you breastfeed, as long as you do. I lost my baby weight plus another 10 pounds while breastfeeding. This was all in the first two weeks but after that, I got my appetite back and have slowly put on about 8 pounds. I would say that it helps but unfortunately you can’t just rely on the breastfeeding to lose the weight. But I would say that it really helps…and they say you only need an extra 500 calories to make milk so I think if you were to eat about1800 calories a day, you could lose weight quickly.
My son is 18 months old and I weigh 5 pounds MORE then the day after I gave birth to him. I think it varies for everyone. I haven’t really been trying to lose the weight yet though. I know that breastfeeding helps many women lose weight… but that hasn’t been the case with me.

my baby is 2 weeks old today. i started out pre-preg weight of 160 lbs, and by month 9, i had gained 40 lbs, at 200 lbs. in 2 weeks of exclusive breastfeeding, my weight has dropped to 172 lbs. it is still dropping every day. i figure if it contiues like this, i will probably end up weighing less than my pre-preg weight in a month, but we’ll see how it goes

I was about 135 pre-pregnancy… gained 35 lbs durring pregnancy… so 170. I was back in my old clouthes by around 2-3 months and by 6 months i was down to about 110lbs (and nothing fit me!).
Now, at 19mo pp, I am holding steady between 115-120.
I had to eliminate dairy because my son was sensative to it though, so that contributed to my major weight loss.
Just eat healthy… plenty of nutrient dense foods, and you will be fine.

My son is 10 months (TODAY!) and he is breastfed. I thought that it would definately help me lose some weight however now that I have been doing it for almost a year I realize that it doesn’t “slim you down”. I don’t over indulge with food but i do make sure i eat enough so that both him and I are getting what we need. So far I have lost about 15-17lbs. But that is also with exercise. I say that while you breastfeed enjoy yourself. Don’t worry about losing the weight right now. Spend time with your baby and later when you have more time to take care of yourself (does that ever happen?) then worry about dieting. Enjoy your little one and good luck.
Our bodies are wonderfully made which is why we have a built in “lose the baby weight” mechanism in breastfeeding. No, that isn’t the REASON we breastfeed, but it certainly is part of the design. I gained 30 pounds with each of my children, and without even noticing or “trying” (too busy with the new babies!!) I lost all that weight very quickly. It is an amazing experience raising your babies, enjoy every minute!
